Keeping a Low Profile on the Internet
George Orwell’s 1984 imagined a world where your every moved was tracked, your privacy was non existent, and the government was privy to your closest secrets. That world has now arrived, in the form of the World Wide Web. But instead of government (which is answerable to the electorate) doing the tracking, it’s private business, which is unregulated and answerable only to their shareholders. We’ll take a look at some of the ways you’re tracked on the internet and how to reduce your exposure.
The meeting will be held at SkullSpace (Winnipeg hackerspace) on the 2nd Floor of 374 Donald St (north of Portage Avenue, two doors down from Yellow Dog Tavern,) starting at about 7:00 PM.
