If you have OS/2 Warp version 4 or OS/2 Warp Connect (version 3), the basic setup is simple.
OS/2 Warp Connect users should not install the Internet Access Kit from the Bonus Pak. Use the "Selective Install for Networking" icon in the System Setup Folder to install TCP/IP. You should also grab the TCP/IP update file W3IAKUG2.ZIP, although this may not be absolutely required.
In OS/2 Warp 4, Internet Access is part of the Network Installation. Open the Install / Remove folder, shown at right, in the System Setup Folder. Then run Selective Install for Networking.
The icon called "Dial Other Internet Providers" is the one we use to connect to our Internet Service. It will be located in a folder called Internet (Modem) in the Programs Folder. Once it has connected, logged in, and established Point to Point Protocol, you can run your mail program, ftp, browse the web, etc.
The easiest way to configure the "Dial Other Internet Providers" program for our Internet service is to use Thomas King's IAKSETUP program. The current version is called IAK135.ZIP -- I have updated its data file WPCUG.DAT (you're welcome, Tom <grin>) to set the correct parameters for use with our Inernet Service. The file is available on the Bulletin Board, or via the link at the end of this document.
Unzip IAK135.ZIP to a temporary directory (I used a directory named "junk" on my D partition), and then open an OS/2 command line session. CD to your temporary directory, then type the command shown at right, and hit ENTER.
Tom's Rexx script will prompt you for the following information:
If you have typed that information correctly, press Y, and watch as Rexx sets up your dialer for you. If you made a typo, you can press N and start over.
It's a tiny bit more complicated, but it will work just fine. Start by installing the Internet Access Kit from the OS/2 Warp Bonus Pack CDRom.
Then download the IBM TCP/IP update file: W3IAKUG2.ZIP. Install it according to the directions in the included README file. All the files you need are on the club Bulletin Board, or via the links below.
Once you have installed the updates, run Tom King's IAKSETUP file, as shown above.
Here are the files you'll need...(Warp 4 users only need UNZIP and IAK135.ZIP) These links are under construction...soon they will actually work!
